Baxley Maniscalco Injury Attorneys

A gavel and justice scale sit on top of a wooden desk. We see them from a birds' eye view.
Baxley Maniscalco Attorneys At Law

We've realized that a major difficulty for small firms is the struggle to connect and form partnerships with other attorneys. Mid-size and large law firms have entire marketing and relationship management teams to assist them with developing and nurturing partnerships with other attorneys. They create and run their own legal referral portals.

They bring bottles of champagne when you refer them a case. Colloquially: ain't nobody got time for that. Solos and small firm practitioners are too busy handling their cases to trot about with gift baskets.

Aside: We have nothing against big firms. We partner with them too in many instances. We just want to level the playing field a bit for those of us who lack the ad budget for one million billboards down either side of I-20.

    How We Can Work Together

    We want to bridge that gap for ourselves and for other small firms. We firmly believe in the work ethic and skills that solos and small firms have for serving their clients. We believe that small firms are leaving a lot of money and competitive advantage on the table by not connecting with one another better.

    We are a firm that focuses on personal injury and family law matters. For years, when potential or former clients called about a case in a practice area we didn't handle, we'd simply tell them we couldn't help, and that was outside of our areas of expertise.

    That approach was and is a bad plan for a few reasons:

    1. It prevents us from serving as the go-to for all legal needs when a former or potential client has a problem.
    2. It sends that potential client out searching on the internet for whichever large law firm's SEO or paid marketing has put them at the top of the search rankings.
    3. It keeps us isolated from potential partners in the legal community.

    We are working to change that. It is now our goal to help every single potential client who contacts our firm connect with the right lawyer to meet their needs.

    To that end, we are developing referral partnerships in every conceivable legal practice area. We hope you'll reach out and connect with us so that we can add you to our network of referral partners. We'd also love to get to know you on a personal level.

    Cases that we handle include:

    Jurisdictions where we practice personal injury law: across the states of Alabama and Georgia.

    Opportunities for Referral Partnerships

    If you have a personal injury case and would like to refer it to our firm, we are honored to serve your clients and gladly fee share. We will send you 33% of the total attorney's fee earned in the representation.

    You can be as involved or as hands-off as you would like to be. We have partners who give us the potential client's name and contact info, and we take it from there, and on the other end of the spectrum, we have attorneys who co-counsel and work the case alongside us all the way to trial.

    Regardless of the level of involvement you choose, we will keep you updated regularly throughout the case. We will also send your client back to you should they ever contact us with a future legal need. We will speak highly of you to your client and will never undermine you or your firm.

    Send us a text with your name and firm name and a quick summary of the case, and we’ll conduct a quick case screening and reach out for any additional details we need. If we accept the referral, we’ll send written confirmation of the fee sharing agreement and get in touch with your client once we have your permission.

    What We Don't Do

    We do not practice in these areas:

    • Commercial litigation;
    • Bankruptcy law;
    • Criminal law/DUI defense;
    • Immigration law;
    • Entertainment law;
    • Intellectual property law;
    • Civil rights law;
    • Employment law;
    • Workers' compensation; and
    • Medical/legal malpractice.

    If you practice in one of these areas of law or another that is not listed, we would love to refer you cases. We understand that it is not customary to pay referral fees in hourly billing matters, and we don't expect one. It is beneficial to us simply to be able to connect our clients with the right person to meet their legal needs in every situation.

    Other Geographic Locations: Referrals by Our Firm to You

    If you practice in the same practice areas that we do, but outside our geographic area, we would like to refer cases to you. We receive leads for personal injury cases from across the United States, in every state, and we need trusted partners in each state.

    If you practice family law in the state of Alabama or Georgia, we only accept cases in two counties: Calhoun and Cleburne. For all other counties across both states, we would like to refer you cases. Should you need local counsel in a domestic case in Calhoun or Cleburne County, Alabama, we would be happy to work with you.

    The Same Practice Areas in the Same Locations: Mutually Beneficial Partnership

    We would still like to work with you at any opportunity. We simply don’t think it’s necessary or strategic for small firms to treat each other as “the enemy” or “the competition.”

    In our hometown, we regularly refer conflict cases to our “direct competition” and share fees, and we routinely collaborate on challenging matters. Even if we practice in exactly the same geographic area in the exact same practice areas, we want to work together to improve both our practices.

    We will freely share any forms, pleadings, or caselaw we have found on any issue that would be of help to you. As far as we’re concerned, as plaintiff’s lawyers, we’re all playing for the same team: We’re all seeking justice for our disenfranchised clients against a massive corporate defendant or insurance company.

    It’s a big fight, and when we share resources to raise the practice of the plaintiff’s bar, we’re improving the success of each and every one of our plaintiff’s claims and the success of all of our firms.

    You Can Trust Us With Your Clients

    We have been trial attorneys for over a decade. We’ve handled hundreds of cases before many different judges and juries. You’ll notice that our firm partners are still relatively young. We started fresh out of law school and hit the ground running. We have a lot of fight in us, and we believe in taking good care of our clients. Ask around about us.

    In our local bar we have a reputation as good to work with and fair, but very aggressive on behalf of our clients. We have overall rave reviews from former clients and they come back for future legal matters. You won’t get complaints from your referrals that we didn’t keep in touch with them or they don’t know what is going on in their case.

    We look forward to the opportunity to work with you!

    Our referral fees are paid in full compliance with state bar rules and the Alabama Rules of Professional Conduct.
